Gay rights and human wrongs are two things that often go hand in hand whenever people try to proclaim their individual right to live as they see fit.

This t-shirt is a response to Russian gay rights marches that took place in the summer 0f 2007. It deals with themes of homophobia coupled with the stereotypical consumerist image of homosexuals. The shirt features the iconography of the old Russian flag, there is also a nod towards the colours used as the material of the shirt is red and the printed design is yellow.

One aspect of doing research at MA level is that you cant just have one idea and run with it. If you have a design idea you should ask yourself is it necessarily the best idea? You need to explore all of the design possibilities and document them. This doesn't mean that I sat down and made ten versions of the one t-shirt searching for the best outcome. You can use drawing, photography & collage or even photoshop to give your considerations form and demonstrate to everyone that you are thinking all the way around your idea.
